Maude Belle Gray was born to the late Claude Stalworth and the Adele Williams on October 19, 1943 in Hempstead, New York. The family lived in Jamaica, Queens where she resigned there on after. Maude was the 3rd of 5 children her oldest sister Della Mae proceeded her in death.
Maude Belle continued her education in the NYC school system attending P.S. 160, Shimer and August Martin High. Always eager to learn and better herself. She received her education by studying dentistry at NYU. In 1989 she started working in the textile care department at the St. Albans V.A. Hospital with several awards and trainings and hard work, Ms. Gray was well deserving of her position as the Veterans Hospital Textile Care Plant Manager. It was important to her that her employees felt appreciated. She valued the importance of team work. Her 25 years of service was driven by her dedication and commitment to serve our Veterans.
God said “Peace Be Still” and called on his daughter on April 8th, 2014 at Jamaica Hospital.
She leaves to honor her memory three children her son Solomon and twin daughters Donna & Della; two grandchildren Jonathan & Simone; three siblings Duke Stalworth, Claude Stalworth Jr and Mildred Calhoun; one goddaughter Neekie; one sister in Law Mary, one brother in Law Albert and one son in law Ben, twelve great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, and close family and friends.
She was the Boss. She mothered many, she held it down. Maude Belle Gray was a beauty. Beauty is described as being the balance between Harmony and nature. Accompanied with elegance, grace, style, family values and integrity Maude was nothing shy of a rare gem, always giving her all so much love and warmth to everyone. She would always say “The Best Gift You Can Give Someone Is Prayer” she lived by the words she spoke.
Maude was loving and caring while speaking her mind at the same time.
