Obituary for Francilla Williamson

Francilla Williamson
Francilla Williamson, also known as Mama, was born on September 9, 1910, in Davyton, Manchester, Jamaica. Francilla’s father Joseph was a Planter and her mother Jane was a Home maker. Francilla graduated from Belair School in Manchester. Thereafter she proceeded to work as a cook in her home town. In seeking better opportunity she migrated from the country to Kingston the city to work with the Wong family as a cook until she retired.

She was so many things to so many people. We will miss such a special person and legend who has left a legacy and instilled her values in her children, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren along with anyone she met in her path. Family values were very important to her. She spent most her life as a single mom, whom found comfort in her church. There wasn't anything that woman did that she didn't do with her whole heart. She loved people and loved making people happy. She was a caring mother to many. I have heard stories, how she worked so hard to keep up her family and sacrificed so much for her children.

It was admirable to see her handling tough situations without losing her dignity or grace. She was always the one to shy away from contentions. She only raises her voice when was singing and boy she love to sing. Many times I catch her nodding off and she will wake up saying "mi nah sleep mi ah sing".

She was so peaceful that everyone in the neighborhood knew and mama and mama knew everyone. Mama knew how to give even up until her last `sweetie' she will give to anyone in her presence.

We can't express how much love we feel for all she taught us and all she was. We never took your presence for granted. We feel privileged and honored to have spent as will never shine the same. There's such an awful void but we find comfort in knowing that eventually we would see her again. Francilla left us with peaceful memories on October 8, 2014 her love is still our guide.

Francilia is survived by two children: son Ascar and his wife Annette Ricketts, daughter Delmay and husband Roland Paisley. Six Grandchildren Hugh & wife Jarma, Sharon, Sophia & spouse Devon, Michelle & husband Michael, Kimar and Keyon. And Ten Great grandchildren: Shadee, Hugh-Ann, Donta, Rohan, D'Angelo, Felicia, Kesean. Hugh-Jay, Keyonna and Kaevon.
