Obituary for Emma Sue Sapp

Emma Sue   Sapp
Born December 30,1929 in Madison Florida, Child of Robert Benjamin Thomas and Julia Alberta Hall Thomas.

Emma was raised on the Hall Farm on the Boarder of Madison, Florida and Quitman, Georgia. She attended Live Oak Private School, in Suwannee County, Florida. Emma grew up with her parents, brothers and sisters; Edger Thomas, Robert Israel Thomas, William Columbus Thomas, Bennie Charles Thomas, Millinee Thomas, Dorothy Thomas Adams.

Emma attended Saint Phillips Baptist Church in Quitman, Georgia. Emma married Neely Sapp in 1960 and from this union came Daryl Gene Brown and Yolander Gail Sapp. Emma moved to New York where she started working taking care of families in Manhattan. Soon after, she became employed at Manpower Agency and was trained to become a Nurses Assistant.

Emma was later employed at Jamaica Hospital where she worked for 30 years in the Emergency Room until her retirement in 1996. Emma was the nurse's aid in charge of the Trama Unite. She assisted hospital residents and nurses in the proper etiquette and ER room protocol. Emma helped save many lives and assisted with the births of six babies during her tenure at JHMC. She enjoyed her retirement with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren until her passing on December 5, 2014.

She is survived by her sister Millinee Thomas, son Daryl Brown and daughter Yolander Howard, daughter-in-law Lynn Shackleford-Brown and son-in-law Robert Howard, eleven grand children, and thirteen great grand children. And a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
