Mattie Elizabeth Lassiter-Maisonneuve, daughter of the late Lether and Ila Lassiter and youngest of eleven children was born June 20, 1945 in Johnston County, North Carolina. Mattie worked on the farm at the early age of 10 picking cotton and tying tobacco.

Mattie attended William Mason Cooper Elementary School at the age of 6 and graduated High School and received her Diploma in 1963. That same year Mattie moved to New York working various jobs; Abraham & Straus Department Store, a Nurse’s Aide and the United States Postal Service. Mattie met the love of her life and married Joseph Mauclair Maisonneuve. In 1982 Mattie was employed by the Department of Corrections followed by the Department of Social Services until she retired May 28, 2002.

Mattie began her spiritual walk at the Rose of Sharon Church of Christ under the leadership of Bishop Willie S. Rouse. Mattie served on the Usher board, Gospel Chorus and Missionary Board.
Throughout the years Mattie joined the Missionary Choir and the Sunday School Convention Choir of the North Eastern District Assembly and also held position of financial secretary for the ASJ Sick Program.

Mattie became a member of the Little Branch Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ when it was founded in August 1996 under the leadership of Pastor, Ella M. Johnson. Mattie was called to the ministry of Evangelism in 1998.

One of Mattie’s favorite things to do was singing. Her favorite songs were, “I Won’t Complain” “Go” and “He’s Done Enough.” With all she has endured God healed her and Mattie was known as the “Walking Miracle.”

On June 22, 2015 Evangelist Mattie E. Lassiter-Maisonneuve was called home to be with Lord. Mattie was proceeded in death by her husband the late Joseph Mauclair Maisonneuve, daughter Cassandra Lassiter, grandson Kourtney Lassiter. Her six brothers, Clinton, Quincey, Edward, Passion (PL), Charles and Billy Lassiter. Two sisters, Rena Mae Sanders and Christine Lights.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her girls Madeline Hailey (Keith) of Atlanta Georgia, Demetrice (Deedee) Lassiter, Santasha Chapman, Monica Maisonneuve of Queens NY and her niece/daughter Sonora Vinson (Darius) of Brooklyn NY. One sister Dolories Hinton of Bay Shore, NY and one brother Freeman Lassiter of Queens, NY. Two grandsons, Timothy Maisonneuve, Pablo Chapman and one granddaughter Melanie Lassiter of Queens, NY. Terrance and Shaunet Williams who Mattie was affectionately known as Nana. Two great-granddaughters, Italy and Londyn Marvin of Queens, NY. Two god sons Michael Redman of Queens, NY and Dominic Whitley of North Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, relative and friends.
