Emma Lee Jenkins age 92, went home to be with the Lord, when she passed away on August 6th, 2015 at Benenson Pavillion in Flushing, New York.

She was born Emma Lee Chance in Greenville, North Carolina on July 17th, 1923. Emma Lee was a spirited young lady who spent her time helping her mom around the kitchen where she undoubtedly learned her amazing cooking skills. It has been said at times she helped do some farming of the land. Emma Lee met the love her life Mack Henry Jenkins, Sr. they eventually married and relocated to New York in 1959.

Her true identity was being a great wife and dedicated mother. The hardest and most rewarding job she would ever have. Emma Lee was always there for her children. She loved them completely. She was a no nonsense type of woman, because she always wanted the best for them and out of them. Emma Lee relished over not just her children, but her grand children, great grand children and great great grand children. She felt her greatest gift in life was her family. If you knew Emma Lee Jenkins and was blessed with the opportunity to talk with her, you was intrigued with her stories. humored by her jokes, and soothed with her singing. Especially her favorite little song. “Ting A Ling” she used to sing to all her grandchildren.

She also made you want to cut a rug when she started to dance. Emma Lee welcomed you in with open arms. She always wanted to feed you. Her famous words “You Hungry” go in the kitchen and fix you a plate. The reason why because she was a great woman of pure reflections of serenity in her soul and happiness in her heart. As Emma began to face some challenging health issues she dealt with it with dignity and grace. She kept her feisty disposition and her fighter mentality until the very end. Emma Lee Jenkins hailing from humble beginnings, a simple woman by nature lived a full and abundant life…..

Emma Lee Jenkins is survived by her one sister Mary Chance. Four daughters Hattie Dottery, Mary Jenkins, Jean Tillman (Eddie Tillman) and Barbara A. Sims. Eight grandchildren Anthony Edmonds, Marian Jenkins, Shawn Jenkins, James, Shanqua Sims Brown, Brian Tillman, Terrance Tillman, Anthony Barrett, and David Barrett. even great grandchildren Chawndaya Deering, Tiffany Jenkins, Sabrina Jenkins, Richard A. Brown, Zhani R. Brown, David Barnett, Jr. and Jasmine Barrett. Two great great grands Ariyanna Jenkins and Tahj C. Johnson. A host of nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, cousins and extended family and friends. Emma was predeceased by her husband Mack Henry Jenkins, Sr.; 2 sons Mack Henry Jenkins, Jr. and Wille Ray Jenkins.
