Obituary for Joseph Anthony Hernandez Jr.

Joseph Anthony Hernandez Jr.
Joseph Anthony Hernandez was called home to rest on September 14, 2015 at the age of 50.

He was born in Queens, New York as the third child of his father Joseph Hernandez and his mother Mary Hernandez. The family lived for some time in Queens and relocated to Puerto Rico where Joey completed high school and attended the University of Puerto Rico where he graduated as a Computer Programmer.

His drive for excellence in achievement brought him back to New York where he was employed by Service Employees International Union #144 for eight years. During this time, he met the love of his life Faye Jordan and was later married on July 2, 1993. This union brought them two beautiful sons Sean and Luke.

Joey continued to further his education and attended Hunter College to further his studies and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Programming. Always the achiever, Joey was employed by Dynax as a programmer and was elevated to a higher position at Alliance Bernstein investment firm.

As a “Techie” of course, he loved playing computer games such as Kingdom Heart, Star Wars and World of Warcraft which was his favorite. He loved to watch the games of Thrones on television. Joey also traveled to Japan and fell in love with the Japanese culture and livestyle. He later became a Japanese art collector and even learned some of the language.

His quite, low keyed manner and quick-witted sense of humor, endeared him to many. Joey loved his family and would do anything to protect and provide for them. Above everything. Joey was a chef “Extraordinare” He loved to cook and did most of the cooking and baking for the family. The family is grateful for the support of his good friend Louis who was there until the end.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife Faye, sons: Sean and Luke, Mother: Mary Hernandez, Sisters: Rebecca, Brothers: Manuel, Ralph and David. Uncle: Fredie Cruz, Cousins: Mary Jane and Francie, Clint, Rene, Nicholas, Arthur and a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

His memory will forever live on in our hears. May his soul rest in peace!
