Safe in the arms of our almighty God, Virginia quietly and peacefully entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at approximately 3:17pm in the afternoon. God released her from pain and suffering to enter into a realm of peace and joy.

Virginia was born on July 7, 1943 in Halifax County, Virginia to her proud parents, the late Fleming and Annie Wyatt. She was the youngest of seven (7) children. Four (4) brothers and two (2) sisters who preceded her in death.

Virginia was educated in the Halifax County School System.

Virginia joined Memorial Baptist Church of Riverdale at an early age where she accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized. She served as a faithful member on the choir, usher board and various other ministries.

Virginia relocated to Brooklyn, New York in 1963 where she met and married her soulmate, Cleveland Wendell Taylor and to this union were born two (2) children, Pamela Anita Taylor and Michael Wendell Taylor. Virginia worked at Kings County Hospital as an administrator in the Pediatric Department and later left to embark on a career at the Department of Social Services as a Payroll Administrator where she worked for over thirty (30) years.

Virginia later joined Bethany Baptist Church 148th Street under the leadership of Pastor Charles L. Hawkins. There she served as President of the pastor’s aide, Treasurer of the choir and a member of the Trustee board. After the passing of Pastor Hawkins, Virginia served in the same capacity under the leadership of Pastor Darren M. Duncan.

Virginia joined the Bethany Baptist Church on 157th Street and 111th Avenue on April 24, 2005 under the leadership of the Pastor Craig Scott Brown Sr. She served as President of the Pastor’s Aide, member of the senior choir, Virginia and Food Pantry Ministries.
Virginia was very devoted to her family and enjoyed picnics, outings, bus trips, shopping and raising her children, grands and great grands. She enjoyed attending bible study and reading her bible. She maintained her faith in God and her Savior Jesus Christ throughout her life and illness.

Virginia possessed the characteristics of a virtuous woman. She was kind, loving, giving, concerned, affectionate, brave and compassionate. She would extend a helping hand to anyone. Her specialty was sending cards to friends, family and even strangers. It can be said with all sincerity that she loved her pastor and her church family.

Virginia leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 51 years; Cleveland Wendell Taylor, daughter; Pamela Anita Taylor, son; Michael Wendell Taylor. Seven (7) grandchildren; Jason, Ashley, Paige, Michael, Benjamin, Lori and Christina; four (4) great grandchildren; Denzel, Latrel, Tatyana and Joshua. One sister-in-law, Bessie Wyatt; one brother-in-law, Malachi Taylor; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also has a very devoted and loving friend MaryAnn Robinson. A special thank you to her devoted Deacon Everton Gardner who was always at her side.
