A time to be Born: Ms. Joan Hale was born in the Bronx, NY, 15 December, 1949 to the loving parentage of the late Robert Lee and Eulamae Ponder, she was the fifth child of twelve born to this union.

A Time to Grow: Joanne as she was affectionately called, attended PS 299 and Bushwick, HS both in Brooklyn, NY, after graduation she pursued her Cosmetology License and earned her livings as a hairdresser for many years, after the birth of her first child she changed careers and worked on Wall Street at American International Group Realty until she wasn’t able to work, She was a Woman, tiny in stature with a loud voice and a big Heart.

A Time to Plant: As a devoted and loving mother she raised her children with great values for life, she strived to provide them with everything they needed to prosper, physically and emotionally, in doing so she demonstrated the strongest symbol of motherhood knowing that these were her greatest expressions of love to her children. Known as Nana to her grandchildren she adored, nourished and loved them continuing her seed of life through her grandchildren.

A Time to Laugh: To know her was to love her and to be truly loved by her, She enjoyed living and she lived her life her way, she shared her love and friendship with all who came in contact with her, she opened her heart and home to family, friends, cats, dogs she never met a stranger or a stray animal.

A Time to Weep: She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Eulamae, 3 Brothers, Robert Lee, Ponder Jr., Willie Ponder, and William Ponder, 2 Sisters Christine Petteway and Dorothy Brown and one son Champ.

A Time to Depart: In the stillness of the morning of January 2, 2017 she received her wings, she was called home to glory.

A time to Mourn: Her spirit of love and fond memories will forever be cherished by her 3 children, Kwame Hale (Carmelita) of Jefferson, GA, Tyquan Hale of Queens, NY and Dominique Hale (Nadia) of Queens NY, her precious grandchildren, Shaquan St. James, Destiny Hale, Jayden Hale, Michael Hale, Aniyah Hale, Kayden Hale, Jayceon Hale and the little one yet to be born, 2 Great Granddaughters, Serenity St. James and Mya Wright, Six sisters Barbara Jackson (Concord, NC), Estella Graves (Baltimore, MD), Elaine Ponder (Concord, NC), Gail Ponder (Queens, NY), Gloria Ponder (Queens, NY), Venus Ponder (Atlanta, GA) and a host of nieces and nephews and loving friends who were dear to her heart.
