Obituary for Garth Douglas Kellier

Garth Douglas Kellier
Garth Kellier was born in Jamaica West Indies on August 21, 1959 to Hazel and Clifford Kellier. While still a very young child he experienced a very traumatic brain injury that would incapacitate him for a lifetime. In spite of this disability Garth led a rather peaceful life. He attended and graduated from High School in 1978. For several years he worked at the Kennedy airport in baggage claim and performed his tasks admirably until he had another serious accident which would complicate his previous infirmity and require him to be homebound for a good portion of his life.

Although homebound, he was always willing to help his neighbors in any way possible. Whether it was shoveling snow or going to the store to purchase an item for a neighbor, he willingly offered his assistance in any way possible. He enjoyed music and movies which kept him occupied at home. As a caring member of the family, he always reached out to his family and friends by telephone just to say hello and find out how they were doing.

Garth lived peacefully with his sister Andrea Kellier, who cared for him deeply and enjoyed his company as a sibling and as a trusted friend. When she was at work he would take care of her poodles "Champaign", "Caviar" and recently joined by "Brooklyn". He made certain that they were walked and properly fed.

While Garth has left this world, he leaves behind a loving sister, family and close friends who will continue to love and remember him for his gentleness and humility. He will be remembered lovingly as he fought a prolonged fight against his physical infirmities and strove for his own personal relevance in this world.

His family and friends long to meet him again in the kingdom to come where he will be made anew, divested of his infirmities and free to love and worship the Lord along with his family, his friends and all the saints in a heaven where no sickness or physical impairments will ever exist. Until then we will love and cherish his memory in our hearts as we pray for that great getting up morning. Until then, to our beloved Garth, "Fare Ye Well".
