Obituary for Christine "Chris" Miller

Christine Gunter Miller, formerly of South Ozone Park, departed this life on March 19, 2017 from her youngest daughter’s home in Albrightsville, PA. Born a Valentine’s baby February 14, 1940, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, to the late Jessie E. and Sclester F. Gunter. She was the fourth born of ten kids.

Christine received her education in the Pittsylvania County public school system and then moved up to ‘The Big Apple’ to help support her family back home. It was in New York City she met and married her late husband, Curley Miller II.

Before securing a 27 year career with Verizon as an Information Operator she humbly worked as a maid and later a nanny to the rich and famous. “ Been there, done that! You can have it!”, is what she use to say she'd been so many places and done so many things . With tremendous dignity and strength she left nothing undone. She had no regrets and touched the hearts and noses (smelling of Chanel #5) of all she crossed. To know her was to gain a mother, sister and a dear friend- and you dare not call her during her Yankees or Knicks games.

Christine leaves to cherish her memory: three of her four children - E. Dean Gray, Jessica Miller-Epps and Curley Miller (her eldest son Clyde Gunter preceded her in death); sons and daughters in-law: Wardell Gray, Robert Epps, Bryan Greene and Doretha Cunningham; three sisters: Juanita Saunders, Joan Robertson, and Diann Gunter; three brothers: Johnny Gunter (Sandy), Alfonza Gunter (Priscilla) and Carson Gunter (Diane); sisters and brother in-law: Donald Miller, June Albritton, Regina Holland and Marcenia McDuffie; two aunts: Gladys and Bernice Womack; eleven grandchildren: CaTiia Green (Philip), Kimberly Stephens, CaTera Gunter, Spencer Greene, Clyde Gunter, Christian Hinton, Chase Miller, Jada Miller, Samuel Epps,Trinity Miller, and Blake Miller; seven great grandchildren: Tamasjai, Kimani, Jordan, Keenan, Tocarra, Kimberlyn and Justin; and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, eldest son and late husband Christine was preceded in death by her brother William Gunter (Minnie), two sisters: Naomi Jenerette (Henry) and Swannie Gunter; also her beloved friend Henry Moore.

When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me;
I want no rites in a gloom filled room, why cry for a sole set free?
Miss me a little- but not too long and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that we once shared; miss me- but let me go!
