Obituary for Bernice Amelia "Bunny" Williams

Bernice “Bunny” Williams (Stephens), of Brooklyn, NY died Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center after a tough and courageous battle against cancer.

Born in Queens, New York, April 22, 1959 to George and Isabelle Stephens, Bunny was one of four children James (deceased), George Jr (deceased) and Torrin of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Bunny graduated from John Bowne High School, went on to become a pharmacy technician and was employed by Creedmoor Psychiatric Center for greater than 30 years. While there she also worked as a mental hygiene therapist, switchboard operator and sometime chef at the Transitional Center.

She married the love of her life Richard V Williams, Jr. in November of 1984 until his death in July of 2000. She bore two daughters, Raashida in 1984 and Keyanna in 1988 and co-parented Richard, Reginald, Taneeaka and Stephanie.

She loved her community, family and any extension thereof. She was “Ma” to not only her children, but also to the many whose paths she crossed and lives she touched.

Bunny is survived by her daughters Raashida Williams and her two children Raamir and Nyaomi of Newport News, Virginia and Keyanna Williams of Brooklyn, New York; her mother Isabelle Stephens; brother Torrin Stephens; stepchildren Richard and Reginald Williams, Taneeaka Dunson and Stephanie Manning; and a host of close family, friends and community members.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Crowes Funeral Home, 107-44 Suthpin Blvd, Jamaica, NY 11435. Flowers, gifts, and donations can be sent to the funeral home.
