VICTOR GREGORY ROMAIN, THE OLDEST SON OF VICTOR ANTONIO ROMAIN AND THE LATE ROSE SAMUELS, WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 7, 1954.

GREGORY WAS BORN AND RAISED IN BROOKLYN AND QUEENS N.Y. GREGORY WAS EDUCATED IN THE NEW YORK CITY PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM WHERE HE WAS A HAPPY CHILD AND LOVED HIS FAMILY. GREGORY WAS THE PROTECTOR OF HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS. WHATEVER GREGORY SAID, THAT’S WHAT IT WAS, NO IF’S OR BUTS ABOUT IT GREGORY GRADUATED FROM JOHN ADAMS H.S. IN 1969. HE ATTENDED YORK COLLEGE, JAMAICA ,N.Y.AFTER HIS SCHOOLING HE JOINED THE UNITED STATES MILITARY(ARMY) WHERE HE SERVED AS A MILITARY POLICE DURING THE VIETNAM WAR.

GREGORY LOVED BASEBALL, PLAYED THE GUITAR AND HIS FAVORITE MUSICIAN WAS JIMI HENDRIX WHO WAS AN AMERICAN ROCK GUITARIST, SINGER AND SONGWRITER. GREGORY HAD A PASSION FOR HIS FAMILY HE LOVED DOING WHATEVER HE COULD DO FOR HIS LOVED ONES. HIS EYES WOULD LIGHT UP WHEN HE WOULD TALK ABOUT HIS FAMILY ESPECIALLY HIS NIECES AND NEPHEWS. HE WAS EXTREMELY PROUD OF HIS NEPHEW JAMES ROMAIN WHO PLAYS PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL FOR THE PHILADELPHIA SOUL. GREGORY WAS A VERY KIND HEARTED AND LOVING PERSON.

GREGORY WAS EMPLOYED AS A SANDHOG LOCAL 134.(TERM GIVEN TO MINERS, CONSTRUCTION WORKERS WHO WORKED UNDERGROUND ON A VARIETY OF EXCAVATION PROJECTS IN NEW YORK CITY INVOLVING TUNNELING, ROAD BUILDING OR SOME OTHER TYPE OF UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION OR MINING PROJECTS. GREGORY WAS ALSO KNOWN FOR BEING A CRAFTY PLUMMER.

DURING THE EARLY 80’S GREGORY MET AND MARRIED DERLING HODGSON ON JANUARY 12, 1987.

HE WAS PROCEEDED IN DEATH BY HIS MOTHER ROSE SAMUELS. HE LEAVES TO MOURN HIS WIFE DERLING ROMAIN, HIS FATHER VICTOR ANTONIO ROMAIN, HIS STEPMOTHER ANITA CAMERON, 4 BROTHERS, ANTONIO, KEVIN(VALERIE), GERALD(FELICIA), VAUGHN, 5 SISTERS, STEPHANIE, MONIQUE(SCOTTIE), VICKI (RANDY), ANITA VICTORIA AND ONE STEPDAUGHTER DOROTHY. HE ALSO LEAVES
A HOST OF NIECES, NEPHEWS,COUSINS, AUNTS AND FRIENDS.
