Obituary for Dessie L. Harris

“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” Revelation 21:4.

Dessie Lee Harris was born on June 16, 1931 in Mill Haven, Screven County, Georgia to the late Moses Osborne, Sr. and Annie Mae Osborne.
After graduating from high school in 1947, she left Georgia and ventured to Florida and from there she moved to New Jersey. Dessie eventually moved to New York City where she met and married Robert Harris, Sr., this union produced five children: Phyllis, Diane, Rodney, Angelina, and Robert, Jr. whom she loved dearly.
Dessie has various jobs before becoming a manager at Gateway National Recreation Area - Breezy Point Golf Course. She loved the game of golf and was an avid golfer during those years. In addition to golf she loved watching tennis matches.
On Sunday, July 31, 2017, God in his infinite wisdom called Dessie home. She leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to her remaining children: Phyllis Harris, Diane Harris-Dayson, Angelina Randolph, Robert Harris, Jr. Also, her Son-In-Law Kevin Dayson and Daughter-In-Law’s Lisa Whitfield-Harris and Juanita Akinrosoye.
Preceding her in death was her husband Robert Harris, Sr. and son Rodney Harris, Sr. She leaves to mourn: Seven Grandchildren: Five grandsons - Kyle Dayson, Daryl Goins, Rodney Harris, Jr., Malcolm Randolph, and Robert Harris III, and Two granddaughters - Dayna Dayson-Donovan, and Erica Crystal Randolph, along with her oldest sister Annie M. Osborne-Edwards, and her two brothers Joseph and Cassius Osborne and her Sister -In – Law Janice Osborne and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
