Obituary for Edna Grier

(The Matriarch of our Family)
Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother
Edna Grier was 95 years & 3months young, she was born in North Carolina in 1922 and came to New York in the 1940s, she worked odds jobs until she went to school to become a nurse, which she was until her retirement. During this time she worked very hard to raise 4 children Doris, Allen, Harvey, Donnie and a granddaughter Juanita, working overtime most of the time to do this. Over the years she has had additions to the family, (9) grandchildren, Johnny, Rahleck, Shakia, Tovan, Steven, Luigia, Brigitte Adrienne, (7) Great Grandchildren, Rahjin, Rashida, Morgan, Tyreel, Jalin, Kymiah, and one in the oven and (2) Great Grandchildren, Christopher and Adina.

Edna was a simple and kind woman. She was independent and believed whole-heartly in her family. During her earlier years shed loved to entertain, all celebrates was done at her home, barbeques, birthdays and holidays. Edna also enjoy visiting her brothers & sisters when possible.
Edna worked at Fairview Nursing home for over 30 years until her retirement, she dedicated her life to caring for the disabled, sick and elderly.
Edna was a beautiful spirit who brought joy to all that came into contact with her, be it family, friends, friends of friends co-workers and her patients. Even though she has gone home to rest in peace with her mother, brothers and sisters, we here that are left behind will carry-on her legacy of kindness, generosity, strength, honesty and patience, that she worked so hard to instill in us.
Special thanks goes out to Vickey (her son Donnie’s wife) who helped out when the going got tough for her. And to her hairdresser Carolyn who took the time out to come to her home to do her hair when she no longer could go to the beauty shop, (because she had to have that hair done).
We will miss her terribly, but we are overjoyed to know that she is at Peace with her God.
Rest Now Our Beloved, and Know That We All Say to You, “Job Well Done”
