Joyce Scatliffe was born July 2, 1946 in Harlem, New York to the union of Harry and
Miriam Wright. She attend PS 121 and John Adams High School in Queens, New
York.

She later resided in Richmond Hills, NY where she worked as an account executive at John Grima Agency.

She married William Kelly and from this union they had one daughter Tshaiva Kelly. Later in life she married William Scatliffe and from this union they had one daughter, Shareese. In May 7, 1989, Joyce joined the Community Baptist Church of Christ under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Lester L.
Williams. The church is now known as Community Church of Christ, and the Presiding Prelate is Bishop Lester L. Williams.

She served faithfully on various ministries, as a Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Choir, Pastor’s Support, Prison Ministry, the Community Church Store, The First Lady’s Fellowship, Evangelism and recently as a Levite on the Ministerial Staff.Teacher, Choir, Pastor’s Support, Prison Ministry, Community Church of Christ

She is survived by her daughter Bishop Tshaiva (Deirreio) Duncan, Buckeye, AZ, another daughter Shareese Nicole Scatliffe, East Meadow, New York; One step son Raheem Scatliffe (Bronx, New York), three grandchildren, Tshaiva Kelly, Shemiah Kelly and Tehillah Scatliffe, one great grandson, Tristan Patterson two brothers, Dennis Wright, Brockton, Massachusetts, Gregory Wright (Georgia), two sisters, Marcia Kelly and Donna Jemmott, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She departed this life on November 11, 2017.
