Thelma M.   La Plante
Thelma Maria La Plante was born June 2,1935 in Robertson,MO to Leroy Sr. and Nellie White-Dockett. She was the fourth of seven children. Her father and mother preceded her in death.
Thelma, known to all as “Tootie”, accepted the Lord as her savior at an early age, under the pastorship of Rev. J.E. Butler, First Missionary Baptist Church of Robertson,MO.
She attended and graduated Fairmont grade school and Douglas H.S.(Valedictorian) in 1953.
She married Ronald La Plante Sr. on May 29,1954. Soon afterward, they moved to Brooklyn,NY where they raised three children: Ronald Jr, Kenneth and Lisha.
She was employed by Morgan Guarantee Trust Co. and was one of their most valued employees in the Stocks and Bond’s Dept for over 25 years until her retirement.
Upon retirement, she volunteered at her grandchildren’s school, something she enjoyed immensely and received honors for. She received her most enjoyment from spending time with her family.
Thelma Marie “Tootie” La Plante was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at dawn while peacefully sleeping.
She leaves to cherish her memory forever, her husband Ronald Sr., 2 sons, Ronald (Kim) and Kenneth (Sheila, her 2nd daughter) and 1 daughter, Lisha who was everything to her. Six grandchildren, Eric, Regina and Michael (Ronald and Dorothy who preceded her in death), and Shayna, Dana and Deja (Kenneth). Two great grandchildren, Beckett (Regina) and Isaac (Eric). Four brothers, Leroy “Buddy” Dockett (who preceded her), James Pat Dockett, Julius Thomas Dockett and Melvin Curtis Dockett. Two sisters Josephine Woolfolk and Mary “Dee Dee” Wilson, one brother in-law, Harold (Katherine)La Plante, and a host of relatives and friends who were all like family to her.
She will remain in our hearts forever.
