Obituary for Missionary Marie G. Johnson

Reflections of Her Life ….

Mrs. Marie Green Johnson was born, December 22, 1925 in Bronzewood, Georgia. She was the third daughter of four children to the late Albert and MaeBell Green. She later moved to New York where she met and married the late Freddie Lee (Buster) Johnson. This union was blessed with one daughter, Gwendolyn Johnson and two sons Kenneth Johnson and Freddie Lee Johnson, Jr.

Marie worked at Hillside, Long Island Jewish medical center for over 20 years and retired at the age of 65.

She was a faithful member of Antioch Baptist Church where she served on the Gospel Chorus, Missionary Board and Pastor Care Committee. Although due to her health Missionary Johnson wasn’t able to attend church she still enjoyed communion and fellowship in her home with visits from Pastor and Lady Mitchell, Deacon Davis, Former Missionary Board President Howard and Present Missionary Board President Biggs.
Sis. Johnson is known as the Matriarch of the Johnson Family. This was a title that she took seriously and cared for her family up until the day of her sunset. She was a Praying Mother and Grandmother who loved the Lord. She raised her (3) children and was able to help raise her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her Husband, Freddie Lee (Buster) Johnson, son’s Kenneth Johnson, and Freddie Lee Johnson, Jr. Her grandson, Tony Penn, Two sisters, Gladys Bennett and Eldora Jenkins.

She leaves to mourn, (1) daughter, Gwendolyn Johnson, (1) sister, Hattie Mae Green (10) Grandchildren, Tahia Nadine Johnson-Dennis (David Dennis), Dayn T. Johnson (Rhonda Johnson), Troy P. Johnson Takima-Marie Johnson, Kenya Johnson, Jamel Wilson, Monique Wilson, Laquan Johnson, Nadine Price, and Rodney Curtis (16) Great-Grandchildren, Takia Johnson, Shanell Penn, Eric Grace, The Johnson triplets, Kylie, Kaylie, and Dayn, Jr. Johnson, Jamel, Jr, Janel, Amyia, Ashley, Amir, Montrell, Moshay, Mariah, Makala, Amiya; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Our family pets Swaggy and Khloe “Ku-Ku”.
