Obituary for Mamie Clotell Curry

Mamie Clotell Curry, 97 of New York passed away January 11, 2018 she died peacefully in her sleep, at Gold Crest Care Center. She was born September 28, 1920 in McCormick South Carolina. Mamie was a member of the Garden Grove Baptist Church where she attended regularly. In 1953 Mamie moved her family to New York, where she worked as a Homemaker until she retired. She was a hard worker and took pride in everything she did. Many of her employers often praised her performance and love her dearly.
Mamie inherited her sewing skills from her mother, Estell Lee. She made her children clothes and always kept her children well-dressed going to church and school. She loved playing the piano and singing spiritual songs. She also had the ability to repair anything which she learned from her grandfather Charlie. Mamie was a kind and loving person who appreciated family and friends, particularly her grandchildren; she showered them with love and affection.
On January 11, 2018, Mamie joined those who have preceded her in death, her mother Estell Lee, her father, Jerry Curry, her sister, Virginia Johnson and her two sons, Ollie Waren Smith and Cleveland Vinson junior and many more.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her two daughters: Mrs. Charlene Green and Ms. Yvonne Jackson, two sisters: Mrs. Evelyn Russell, Mrs. Carol Barn, three brothers: Jerry Curry, Donald Curry and Ronald Curry,
17 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Compassionate Hospice, Gold Crest Care Center and their wonderful staff for their support in her final days.
