She was born Rebecca Sanchez, the oldest daughter of the late Renaldo Sanchez and Virginia Ocasio on November 4th. But to those who knew her well called her Becky.
On March 9th, Becky suddenly passed away and went onto walk her path with the Lord. Becky started her formal education in the NYC public school system in Queens. She received her GED and attended two years in Toro College. Her hobbies included taking a baking courses at “Baking in the Hood” University, where she excelled at making cheesecakes with cookies and cream ice cream.
Becky started her career with the New York State Facility of Mental Health in the Psychiatric Department. She was loved by her family, friends, co-workers and her patients. Becky always knew how to capture a moment, bring the family together and find somebody to care for even when there was no one to care for them. She once donated bone marrow to a total stranger which extended their life.
Becky had a motherly, bold, daring, loud and straight up personality. She never straddled the fence, she either liked you or she didn’t. She had no problem with letting you know it either. At the end of the day, you didn’t have to like her but she made sure your respected her.
She leaves to morn: Her mother, Virginia Ocasio; her lovely and annoying sister Christina; her Domestic Partner James Jenkins, her 3 great sons, Joseph Jenkins, James Jenkins and Tyler Jenkins and her beautiful daughter Yakira Cobbs; her beautiful, spoiled and only niece Lia Varona, 3 beautiful grandkids: James Jenkins, Calise Jenkins and Joshua Jenkins; her godson: Miguel Calderon and a host of family & friends.
We will all miss her love of life, her wanted and unwanted advice, her laughter and most of all her…….rest in peace Becky. We LOVE You!!!!
