Obituary for Irene D Davis

Irene D. Davis was born on December 24, 1941 in Elizabeth Town North Carolina to the late Elder. Cleveland Davis and Eva Irene Davis. Irene Davis departed this life on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at her home in “Baisley Projects Housing” in Jamaica queens.

She received her education at Bladen Central High School in Elizabeth Town North Carolina. She moved to New York in 1958 met Grover Cleveland Purdie and from that union they were Blessed with Jacqueline Davis on December 5, 1959.

Irene worked in the housekeeping field and did factory work for many years her hobbies were playing cards and going to Bingo. She assisted diligently in the upbringing of her niece Zakia ‘Nook” Washington, grandson Dejsohn Davis aka “DJ, granddaughter Jackquinlyn Davis aka “Sketter” and Aljalyn Freeman- Davis that was her passion. She also loved to bake cakes and cook Sunday dinners and spending countless time with her sisters and their children.

She was proceeded in death by her beloved parents Elder Cleveland Davis and Evangelist Eva Irene Davis, three brothers Williams Graham (North Carolina) Alexander Davis (New Jersey) Clifton Davis (North Carolina) Two Sisters Ruthie Mae Davis (North Carolina) and Pauline Jones (New York).

Irene leaves to mourn one daughter, Jacqueline Davis, One Grandson Dejshohn Davis aka “DJ” two granddaughters Jackquinlyn Davis aka “Sketter” and Aljalyn Freeman- Davis, One Great granddaughter Tylynn Gray, Four Sisters Gertrude Cromartie, Overseer Dorothy Hambrick, Julia Davis and Venetta Ham, One Brother Jack Cleveland Davis and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
