Obituary for Jacqueline L "Jacky" Stewart

Jacqueline L "Jacky" Stewart
Jackie as she was fondly known was born on January 8, 1946 in New York City to the late Ethel and Irving Gale. She had one brother Lee Gale also deceased. The Gale Family lived for many years in Cooper Park Housing Authority Development coming from Harlem where her brother Lee was born. Jackie had two sons, Michael Gale, (deceased in May, 2012) and Devon Keith Stewart. Jackie married Charles William Stewart, Jr., on April 17, 1971 a union that would last for 47 years until the time that she was called home. Jackie was a devoted wife and mother. You would rarely see her without her two sons Michael and Devon. And a better friend you could not find. Jackie was there for whoever needed her.

Jackie was educated in the New York City public schools. She graduated from Grover Cleveland High School and then went on to continue her studies at Baruch and Nassau Community Colleges.

Jackie enjoyed visiting and catching up with family in Maryland. Crabs were high on the food chain. A crab fest was a common event at the Stewart home.

Jackie had a long and distinguished career working for The Sterling National Bank, The New York Foundling Hospital, JP Morgan Chase and finally Western Electric.

Jackie battled a few ailments over the past decade and fought like the warrior she was until the Lord called her home on July 12, 2018. And her dear husband Charles was there to the end.

Some of her favorite sayings were ‘OK Baby,’ ‘Nice,’ and Holler at me when you can.’ One of her favorite records was ‘Love is the Message’ by MFSB. When this jam came on, she was in the middle of the floor with or without a partner. Jackie rarely had anything negative to say no matter the situation but when pushed, a volatile temper could be witnessed.

Jackie leaves behind to mourn her memory her devoted husband Charles, doting son Devon, her brother and sister-in-law Gregory and Carmen, sister-in-law Celeste Gale, grandson Michael Marchello Williams Gale, and a host of cousins and many, many friends.

Sleep on dear Jackie, take your rest, we loved you dearly but God loved you best.

Done in sorrow,
The Family
