Obituary for Joseph Nix

Joseph Nix
Joseph Nix was born on March 26, 1967 to Mary Nix and the late Joseph Carl. Raised in Queens, he attended elementary school at St. Pius V in South Jamaica and later graduated from August Martin High School. It was during his high school years that he first met his future wife Solange, whom he described as his “soulmate”. At the age of 21, Joe became a father to a beautiful baby girl, Janay “his identical twin”. Anyone that knew Joseph knew he was an extraordinary father to his daughter whom he loved so much.

Joe was a hard working man always making sure to provide for his loved ones. He worked different New York State jobs (Creedmoor Psychiatric Center and The Department of Motor Vehicles) before settling down with Vecchio Provisions where he was a Route Supervisor for 12 years.

Joe had several favorite pastimes, sports, especially football, “J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets” movies, dining at restaurants and cooking; but his biggest passion was his love of music. That fervor led him to co-found his production company F.I.F.T.H Entertainment with Tyrone Burroughs in 1990, to help develop music artists. Here is where he honed in on his entrepreneurial skills and was a loyal and devoted manager to his artist, Toni Ann Semple.

As life would have it, Joe and Solange were reacquainted and happily married in 2012. The two were inseparable, traveling the world and enjoying life together.

Joe realized he had a knack for preparing delicious meals and often spoke about starting a food business. Together with George (Greg) Wilson, Bigga Figga catering was born in 2012 and was a huge success. Joe was extremely proud of both enterprises.

While on vacation with his wife, Joe was suddenly called home to be with the Lord.

Joe leaves behind to cherish his precious memory, his wife, Solange; mother, Mary; daughter, Janay; son-in-law, Garrett; step-daughter, Kelsey; brother, Velton (Tony); nephew, Anthony; niece, Sayeda and great niece, Aujunay.

He also leaves a host of family and friends too numerous to mention.
