Deborah Ryons
Deborah A. Ryons was born to the late Shirley Ryons on August 9, 1954 in Jamaica, New York. She was the only child but was surrounded by her first cousins that some she treated like her children and some as her siblings. Deborah entered into eternal rest on August 26, 2018.

Deborah, aka Debbie grew up and lived until her death in the community of Rochdale Village, Jamaica New York. Although she briefly moved to another circle for a few years her home was building 1 until her death. She truly welcomed her neighbors and her extended family. This Village truly raised and loved their daughter.

Many know that she loved to cook and bake. She was always willing to lend her talents and make sure everyone knew she was the baker of the family. Deborah also loved to travel and enjoy herself on the dance floor. Although she never married, rest assure she had her number of suitors but no one special captivated her heart to take that walk down the aisle.

In her professional career Deborah worked for the New York City Human Resource Administration as a Clerical Associate for over fifteen years. She was also a member of labor union DC37. She loved her job and reluctantly left on disability retirement. Although her disabilities began to take a toll on her as the years past Deborah remained active in her beloved community. She served on Hall Patrol for Building 1, member of her cousin Jean’s organization Cooperators United for Reform and joined the Rochdale Village Senior Center.

Deborah had a kind and loving spirit. She would do whatever she could for anyone. She was the person who kept in touch with all the family members. She would talk for hours and hours on the phone with her friends. Deborah also liked to keep everyone informed of what was going on and the hot topics of the day however we all knew she also was known to embellish a story or two!

Deborah grew up in the church and found her home in Calvary Baptist Church. She served with various church clubs and was also a member of Calvary’s choir. Deborah also liked to bowl and was a member of the Calvary Bowling league. She loved the Lord and her commitment to the Word was evident in all that she did.

Bereaved by her loss but uplifted by her home going is her cousins, Jean Hall, Laverne and William Altman, William Ryons, Grady and Diana Ryans, Franchon, Tamara, Kevin, Tori, Shane and a host of extended family and friends.
