Obituary for Sandino Ernesto Vanterpool

Sandino Ernesto  Vanterpool
Sandino Ernesto Vanterpool was born to the late Samuel and Amy Vanterpool on October 21st 1951 in St. Nicholas, Aruba Netherlands Antilles. He attended Maryike School in St. Nicholas. Sandino had 2 brothers, 1 deceased and 4 sisters.

Sandino moved to Curacao in 1974 and in 1982 he met the lovely Ethel Royer and fell madly in love. They had a long lasting love spanning over 26 years.

Sandino loved to entertain and playing music was his passion, he had a vast collection of all kinds of music. He loved playing domino and bingo. Sandino loved to cook and eat and his favorite foods were fried fish, fungi and hot dogs.

Sandino was a serious man but had his moments when he thought he was a comedian. He loved telling jokes and even when he was in the hospital his spirit was still upbeat and he would have the nurses laughing. He always had something smart to say. He was a member of the Antillean Softball League. He held several jobs throughout his lifetime but his favorite was being a crane operator. He loved basketball and was a diehard Michael Jordan fan.

Sandino slipped away to his final resting place after much pain and suffering on December 21st 2009.

Sandino is survived by his wife, Ethel Vanterpool; 3 children, Ernesto (Freddy) Albertus in Aruba, Raul Albertus in Holland and Sharon Vanterpool in Aruba; 2 stepdaughters, Rosemary Stevens in New Jersey and Mary Mitchell in New York; 8 grandchildren in Holland and Aruba; 3 step grandchildren 2 in New Jersey and 1 in Florida; 2 brothers, Rafael Vanterpool (deceased) and Leito Vanterpool in Aruba; 4 sisters, Merida, Mancey and Nerida Vanterpool in Holland and Mary Stewart in Aruba; 2 brothers-in-law, Albert Shillingford in North Carolina and Loftus Letang in Dominica; 1 sister-in-law, Davina Charles in Curacao; 2 daughters-in-law 1 in Aruba and 1 in Holland; aunts, Esperanza in Curaco and Cooley in New York; God-mother, Phyllis in Aruba and several nieces and nephews, a host of loving family members and friends too numerous to mention.
