Mehki Smith http://crowesfuneralhome.com/runtime.php?NavigatorId=148613&SiteId=28220&ItemId=521843&op=tributeMemorialCandles&viewOpt=dpaneOnly Mehki Isaiah Smith was born in Roosevelt Hospital, NY on April 21, 2006 to Veronica Monique Simpkins and Christopher Alonzo Smith. On Monday, August 23, 2010, God in His sovereign will chose to pick another angel. Mehki was the pride and joy of his family. During his four years on earth he touched the lives of everyone he came in contact with. He would often greet preachers by saying my name is "Mehki Pastor". Mehki enjoyed playing with all of his cousins especially the oldest ones, for Mehki felt he was as old as they were and he could move right along with them. Mehki loved to make you laugh and smile. One of his favorite questions was: What are you doing? He always wanted to know how you did things and made sure you acknowledged his presence in the room. Mehki loved to play drums, play basketball and ride his bike. His favorite dance was the "jerk". He enjoyed spending time with his grandparents and cousins. He loved listening to gospel music. If he heard a gospel song on a CD that was not good singing, he would often say: "I don't like that song turn to another song." He enjoyed listening to fast gospel songs that were played on the radio. If the gospel music was too low on the radio he would often say ,"Turn the music up I can't hear it." Mehki's favorite gospel song and he knew most of the words was: "NEVER WOULD HAVE MADE IT WITHOUT THE LORD" Those who really knew Mehki, knew for sure he loved to eat oatmeal every day and chicken nuggets and French fries from McDonald's if you let him. He would often bring his drums sticks to church and play on the back of pews as though they were his drum sets. Mehki attended Toddler College located in St. Albans, New York. He enjoyed writing and coloring pictures. He would often draw pictures in notebooks and then show the pictures to you and describe what he drew. Once again Mehki loved playing the drums and giving God all the praise. Sometimes during morning worship at Freewheel Baptist Church located in Jamaica New York, he would praise God and clap his hands and yell out real loud, "HALLELUAH!" His HALLELUJAH'S were often louder than adults. Let's just say Mehki was a Toddler Worshipper. Mehki loved making people smile and having a good time at the age of four years old. Mehki will be missed by us all, however, we must maintain his legacy within our hearts for he was truly an angel sent by God for a short season. Thank you God for allowing Mehki Isaiah Smith to pass this way and cheer us up from day to day. Mehki leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Veronica Monique Simpkins, father Christopher Alonzo Smith, his sister Malayah Chris Smith, grandmothers Rev. Verna Simpkins (Nannie) and Stacey Smith, grandfather Rev. Ronald Simpkins (Pa-Pa), a special Uncle, Aaron Simpkins, a special cousin, Carter Simpkins, great-grandmothers Julia Mae Simpkins and Willie B. Smith, great-great grandmothers Willie Mae Clerk, Godparents Pastors Martin and Gail Watson, Deshon and Rister Miller, Tommy Johnson, Janelle Patrick, Julia Lewis, God brothers Lil Mark Harris, Jr., Aden Miller, Christian and Isaiah Watson, God sisters Addison Miller, Kiara Lewis, Monique Adams, and Malika Watson, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his Freewheel Baptist Church family. Mehki Isaiah Smith was an angel sent from God!
