Obituary for Addie Lee Smith

Addie Lee Smith
Addie Lee Smith was born on September 16, 1925, in Tar-Heel, North Carolina, to the late Eddie Richardson and Lillie Goins. Later on she met the love of her life in North Carolina, which was Leon Jeremiah Smith. They moved to New York City where they conceived their one and only child Addie Jane Smith.

Our grandmother was a Pastor, a Minister, a Elder, and a Missionary. The reason why she dedicated herself to the Lord was because one day Addie Lee Smith went to a bar one night for a drink and when she went to grab her glass she said she saw the face of God and that's when she gave her whole life to God. Ever since then, Addie Lee Smith, devoted her life to the Lord. Not only our grandmother, but she made sure her daughter, grand-children, and great grand-children devote their lives to the Lord as well.

Addie Lee Smith was and still will be a strong black woman. Our grandmother was a fighter, she even fought until she couldn't fight no more. Mother smith, was a nurse over ten years and then became a house wife and a church mother. Addie Smith, was able to take care of home while her husband Leon Jeremiah Smith took care of her, the bills, and everything else.

Mother Smith, left behind her daughter Addie Jane Smith, her son In-law Kenneth Patterson Sr., three grandsons: Melvin Britt, Terry Wilson, and Darrell Hampton, her two sisters Shirlene - Richardson Butler, and the late Angeline Richardson Polle, her five grandchildren: Patricia McKethan - Hampton, Kathleen Britt, Klarissa Smith, Kenneth Patterson Jr., and Keisha Wilson, her eleven great-grand children: Angel Hill, Rayquan Eggleston, Lisa'Raye Bowen, Rahshawn Gilmore, Marc Aubrey Jr., Tyler Patterson, Ada Aubrey, Tyliyah Patterson, Daziyah Gilmore, Melody Britt, and Melaysia Britt. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Addie Lee Smith left a legacy which started from her one and only child Addie Jane Smith and this legacy will continue from generation to generation. Don't take this as sad news, but take this as a celebration for her to be welcomed home to her righteous father. Addie Smith will never be forgotten and always loved. Her family and friends will always cherish the moments that we all once shared.

We needed you here but God needed you more.

We love you mother, grand - mother, and great - grandmother to the moon and back.
