Sis. Willie Mae Hallmon, beloved daughter of the late Willie Lee Hallmon and Minnie Hallmon departed this life on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

Willie Mae is a native of Aiken, South Carolina. At a young age Willie Mae and her family moved to Baltimore, MD where she lived until she was 18 years old. Willie Mae accepted Christ at the age of 13 and joined Mount Lebanon Baptist Church and was baptized there. At the age of 18 years old Willie Mae moved to New York City. Willie Mae was able to continue her education and graduated from Queens College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts in Education. Willie Mae was a retired teacher from the New York City Board of Education. She was a dedicated teacher for over 30 years. Willie Mae was a big advocate for continuing education and loved to read.

Willie Mae joined Mount Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. John B. Mason, III. She was a member of the Evangelist Choir and the Mass Choir, the Junior Missionaries Board and the Missionary outreach program, Superintendent of the Sunday School and Teacher of Mount Zion Christian Education School of Religion. Sis Hallmon organized the Vocational Bible School and the Afterschool Tutoring program. Willie Mae was a member of Jamaica Sunday Association. She served in the Soup Kitchen from March 2003 until her death. Sis Hallmon has received several bible class credits from the Evangelistically Bible training Association of Wheaton, Illinois. Sis Hallmon became Mother of the Church under Reverend Christopher N. Howard in 2017.

Willie Mae leaves to mourn her loss: her loving sister, Dorothy Hallmon; one niece: Robin; two nephews: Darryl (Terry), Roderic; five great-nieces: Natasha (Darren), Arnyae, T’Aundra, Charnae and Caitlin; two great-nephews: Michael, Jaylin; and two great-great nephews: Dominic and Dashawn; one goddaughter, Rev. Dr. Carol Staley- Abney (Dea. John Abney) and a host of other relatives and friends.

Willie Mae you will be deeply missed. You were a second mom to some, a great friend, and a mentor to plenty. She wanted all her loved ones to be there very best and most importantly to have a relationship with God.
