Obituary for Albert "Pee Wee" Jenkins Sr.

Albert Jenkins Sr., affectionately known to his family as “Pee Wee” passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019, with his wife Ruby Jenkins by his side.

Albert was born March 13, 1949 to the late David and Geneva Jenkins in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and was discharged honorably in 1970. Albert Sr. continued to work at Methodist Hospital where he met and married the love of his life Ruby Daniels.

Albert loved the Lord with all his heart, and any chance he got, he would take the time to read scriptures with anyone who would lend an ear. Albert and Ruby had been long term members of Christian Fellowship Church under Pastor Bennett in Queens, New York.

Albert had a passion for collecting coins, jewelry, and watches. He would dig in his army bag when his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren came to visit searching for coins, jewelry or watches to give to them, just so they could have a piece of his joy in collecting. His favorite line to his grandchildren was “Those coins are going to be worth something one day, make sure you take care of them.”

Albert had a fearless personality, and often let people know what was on his mind. At the same time, he was truly compassionate. For anyone that knew him, he would give them the shirt off his back.

Albert leaves to mourn, his wife of 35 years Ruby Jenkins; son, Albert Jenkins Jr., daughter Shimaya Jenkins Baptiste (Warren), and step son James Earl Daniels; 4 grandchildren: Aidian Jenkins, Kayla Baptiste, Kyle Baptiste, and Jerron Jenkins; seven brothers, Berhneeh Jenkins, David Jenkins, James Jenkins, Richard Jenkins, Cleveland Jenkins, Edward Jenkins, and Howard Jenkins; two sisters, Anna Jenkins-Smith and Geneva Janice Jenkins; a host of sister and brother-in-law’s; a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives; and god-daughter, Glenda Daniels. He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Geneva Jenkins, brother Orlando Cliff Jenkins, and sister Mable Jenkins-Magny.

You will be greatly missed, your smile, your laughter, and your hugs. Until we meet again. With love from your family.
