Obituary for Robert E. Jackson

Robert Earl Jackson was born February 13, 1953 in Rockville Alabama to his mother the late Willie Mae Jackson and his father the late Johnny B Chapman. Robert was the oldest of seven children. He attended school in Rockville Alabama for a short time.

In 1960 his mother decided to move North sending Robert Earl to live with his uncle in Washington DC. Willie continued to New York City. Two years after moving to DC Robert Earl relocated to Far Rockaway NY to be with his mother and siblings. The family moved to Jamaica Queens for a few years but relocated back to Far Rockaway where they settled.

In the Mid 70’s Robert Earl was introduced to the late Barbara Hammonds. In 1977 they were blessed with twin babies one boy and one girl. Robert Earl was employed at Surfside Nursing Home for many years. In the 80’s Robert Earl reunited with the late Maryann Finley and they had two sons. They later married in the 90’s and maintained a long loving relationship.

Robert Earl was a humble, hardworking man with a beautiful smile and a big heart. He loved to play basketball but his feet no longer permitted him to continue to play the sport. He also liked to listen to music and watch tv but he really loved reading books. Robert Earl loved to read he also had love and passion for animals! He had four dogs that kept him occupied all day. Anytime you saw Robert Earl he was with his kids, the dogs or both.

Robert Earl is preceded in death by his parents Willie Mae Jackson and Johnny B Chapman, his grandmother Francis T. Jackson, sisters Zondra Jackson and Joann Kelly, his twin son Robert Earl Sanjay Jackson, his best friend (Mother Of His Only Daughter) Barbara Hammonds, Barbara’s sister Laverne and Barbara’s mother Ann Hammonds. Robert Earl is also preceded by his lovely wife, friend and companion Maryann Finley. Last but not least his favorite pet “Snoopy”

Robert Earl is survived by his children. His only daughter Mecca Jackson, sons Tyree Jackson and Earl T.Jackson, two stepsons Sharee Finley and Travis. He leaves behind four siblings Randy Jackson, Gregory Moore, Sheree’e Jackson, Takisha Jackson, Auntie Marie J. Steele and cousin Chris James. Also his four grandchildren Stash, Shaka, Privi and Cody.

The family would like to send a special thanks to Tomeika Williams. She was there for Robert Earl through it all!
