Obituary for Angela Lynn Davis

Angela Lynn Davis was born on July 31, 1969 in Queens, NY to Charlene and Isaiah Anthony Davis.

Angela was a member of Calvary Baptist church where she accepted Christ at an early age and baptized under Rev. Kelly. As a child she was very active in the church, singing in the children’s choir, Usher board and Girl Scouts. With the girls scouts she started as a Daisy and continued all the way to senior scout.

Angela attended Springfield Gardens highs school and was a member of the student government. After graduating HS she attended Hunter College.

Angela always had a spirt of service and planning, with these gifts she started her carrier with the New York state legislature. It began with the Honorable Ada L. Smith and then for Assemblyman Darryl Towns, where she was the chief of staff. While working with the Hon. Darryl Towns she moved from Queens, NY to Albany, NY. She also worked with the Congressional Black Caucus and Congressman Meeks.

Angela flourished when she went to Albany and made it her home by attending Sweet Pilgrim Ministries and God in Action Ministries. She served as the president of the woman’s ministries, taught Sunday school and attended bible study. Angela had so much love in heart she wanted to share it with someone. She adopted her son Lewis Elijah Davis on June 9th, 2004.

Angela remained in Albany until 2008. It was in 2008 when she was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease. With this Diagnose she returned back home to Queens, NY. This forced her to start dialysis treatment three times per week. While undergoing her treatments she noticed that other patients where severely depressed about going through dialysis. A light bulb went off in Angela’s head, how can I help lift our spirits and give hope to dialysis patients. Angela’s can do spirit formed an organization called “For Kidney’s Sake”. The mission of this Non- Profit is to change the lives of all dialysis patients one day at a time. For Kidney Sake was Angela’s life work. She tirelessly educated and supported patients with Kidney disease. She had events to get people out and about. For Kidney’s Sakes became incorporated in 2012 and they didn’t just educate but they had Zumba parties, Pink & Pearls day, bowling marathons, Man Cave day and started an annual patient awards and medical staff recognition banquet. In 2015 Angela received the Hero of hope award from the American Kidney Foundation. This meant a great deal to her. She knew that she could go even deeper in helping dialysis patients.

Angela always was active, working on new ideas and events for her nonprofit, being a mother, a daughter, sister and friend. She never stopped doing. She always said “I never asked God why, I would say why not me”.

On Sunday June 16th Angela was called home to be with her Lord and savior. She leaves behind to cherish her memory; Her mother Charlene Davis, Son Lewis Davis and Brother, Alamin Abdul-Hakim and a host of family relatives and friends.
