Obituary for William James "Billy" Brown

William James Brown Sr, also known to his friends and family as “Billy” was born November 19, 1963 at Queens General Hospital in Jamaica NY. Son of the late Alfonso (Prince) Brown and Dorothy (Mae) Cropper Brown.

Growing up, William was a highly energetic, incredibly happy and very outgoing person. He was naturally creative, showing how he was particularly handy by exhibiting a talent for building things, including bikes and go-carts. Not only were his attributes reflected in his love of arts and crafts, he had a penchant for being an intellect. Unbeknownst to many, William was passionate about airplanes. In the late 1970’s, while attending August Martin High School, he was recruited by the N.A.S.A Science Program which recognized his aspiration to excel in mathematics, science and history. As part of the program, William flew the Cessna 140 out of the Republic Airport in Farmingdale, Long Island. He later made his career as a Professional Carpenter at Dee Jay Carpet, where he maintained a steady, top-tier position for over 20 years.

William loved the outdoors and he'd always be reliably present and up for seasonal family barbecues in the summer, and holiday gatherings year-round. It's moments like these where his fondness for great laughs, good food and just the warmth of his dazzling smile came shining through. We could always hear

Williams’s voice in his parent’s basement, drowning out the rest of us as he roared about his New York Yankees, the losing Knicks, whatever boxing fight was on TV and his failing New York Giants. In the mid 1980's William met a young woman, Nancy Dixon, with whom he fathered three beautiful children -- William Jr., Yolanda Michele, and Shadaya Princess, all of whom he loved dearly.

On Saturday, November 9th, God lifted our beloved William James Brown Sr. Left to cherish his memories are: his three children, William Brown Jr., Yolanda Michele Dixon, and Shadaya Princess Dixon; one granddaughter, Aniya Peyton Brown; six brothers, George, Kevin, Edward, Lester(in-law), Micheal(in-law), Rodrick(in-law); twelve sisters, Lenora(Cookie), Patricia, Eugenia(Jean), Beverly, Delores(DeeDee), Irvina (Honey), Lorraine(Lori), Rose(in-law), Teresa(n-law), Kessiha (in-law), Sophia, and Sonia; eighty-nine nieces and nephews, a host of other relatives, close friends and a significant other, Ella Adams.
