Obituary for Katherine E. McBride

Katherine Elizabeth Burton McBride was born April 25, 1943 in West Memphis, TN to George and Mary Burton. She was the eldest sister to Laura, Vanger, Mary, Anna and George.

Katherine was educated in the public school system in Tennessee and after graduating high school Katherine left for New York in search of better job opportunities. After working numerous jobs, Katherine secured employment with the New York City Department of Health, where she worked for 15 years before retiring.

On September 12, 1981 she married Isaac McBride, Sr. This beautiful union lasted 38 years.
Katherine accepted Christ at an early age. She found her final church home with Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Jamaica, NY in 2010. While a member there, her quiet demeanor and willingness to serve led her to become a member of the Willing Workers. On Sunday, November 17, 2017, Katherine was consecrated to the service of Deaconess.

All who knew Katherine McBride, knew she had a heart of gold, spoke kindly and softly, was passionate, patient and loved the Lord.

She entered into eternal rest on November 13, 2019 at 3:30pm at Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital. Preceding her death were her sisters Mary Louise Burton Meekins in 2010 and Anna Lee Burton in 2018.

Katherine leaves to cherish many delightful memories her devoted husband Isaac McBride, Sr., daughters Karen Wilson of Kannapolis, NC and Jacqueline Smith of Orange, NJ, stepchildren Jackie McBride Purvis of Long Island, NY, Isaac McBride, Jr, of Springfield Gardens, NY, and Corey Scott of Huntington, NY. Her siblings Laura Clark, Vanger Brunson and George Burton of Queens NY. Her grandchildren Brittany Morris of Hollis NY, Charles Morris, Jr. of Atlanta GA, Kienen Smith of Springfield Gardens NY, Koy Smith of Springfield Gardens NY, Joy Samuel of Long Island NY, Isaac McBride, II of North Carolina, Corey Golf of Queens NY, Shaun Purvis of Long Island, NY, Shauna Purvis of Delaware, Isaiah Scott of California. Two sister-in-law’s Deaconess Alneta Nance and Edwina McBride. Two great grandchildren, Adrian and Camilla. A host of nieces, nephews and other cherished relatives and friends.
