Obituary for Charles W. "Wayne" Greene

Charles Greene or “Wayne” as most of his close family and friends called him, was born on November 28, 1951 in Kingsport, Tennessee; where he grew up with his parents (Mary Anderson Greene )
and two older brothers (Larry and Jerry Greene). Once he graduated from Dobbins Bennett High School;

Charles immediately moved to New Yok. While living in Queens he met his future wife Karen and after a quick courtship the two were married in September of 1973. From this union they started a family of two daughters Kisha and Kiara Greene. And later he embraced the blessing of having a granddaughter named Kaliyah.

Charles was known for being a hard worker, he spent a number of years working for companies like Con Edison, and AT&T until he landed a career working as a correction office for the NYC Dept. of Corrections where he served 20 years at the Rikers Island facility. During his career he gained a lot of experience as well as built lasting relationships with colleagues who have become close as family.

Preceded in death are his parents and brother Larry. Along with his wife, two children, and a granddaughter he leaves behind a brother, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, aunts, uncles and friends that are going to miss him dearly. Charles was the HEART of the family. He was the go to for advice, guidance, or just a helping hand. Charles had an infectious sense of humor that could cause the room to light up with joy. He was the most loving, generous person with a heart of gold. He’ll always be a piece of our lives and a big piece of our heart.
