Obituary for Mary Lee Sanders

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4

Mrs. Mary Lee Sanders, the second of six children, was born on December 28, 1942 to the late Mr. Hilliard and Mrs. Elizabeth Cantey- Brown in Summerton, South Carolina.

On Friday morning, September 11, 2020, at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, Jamaica, NY., a beautiful, vibrant and caring angel was rewarded her heavenly wings, took flight and passed from this life into her abiding rest in Glory.

Mary Lee obtained her formal education in the Clarendon County School System. She was a graduate of Scott’s Branch High School, Summerton, South Carolina and Class of 1961.

She was reared in a Christian home and at an early age acknowledged the need of a personal Savior and sustained her faith through an affiliation with Mt. Pleasant Reformed Methodist Union Episcopal Church. After graduation, Mary Lee moved to New York where she obtained employment as a Night Supervisor in the Automotive Industry, which spanned more than thirty years.

She was married to John Henry Sanders and this union was blessed with four devoted daughters.

Mary Lee will be remembered for her candor, relentless devotion to her family and friends and willingness to help others along the way.

Those left to cherish her memories and continue her legacy: her children, Evelyn C. Sanders, Delores Sanders, Vanessa (Wesley) Watford and Wilhelmina Lewis; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers Henry Brown and Richard Brown; one sister Mabel R. Brown; an adopted daughter Kat; a very dear friend Ms. Shirley; brothers-in-law Willie (Karen) Sanders and Abraham Adger, Sr.; sister-in-law Irma (Ben) Stephens; a devoted nephew Anthony; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
