Obituary for Christopher Joshua "CJ" McKnight

Christopher Joshua McKnight was born on October 6, 1987 to parents Karen LaMar Smith and Willie McKnight.

Christopher, affectionately known as “CJ” was always a very energetic child.
As a child CJ loved to joke and would often find himself to be the center of attention during class. CJ has seen his fair share of classrooms in NYC schools and was remembered by each one. CJ loved to have fun however, as fun-loving as CJ was, most knew he was not one to play with. CJ was known to stand up against people who mistreated others and would do anything for anyone he called friend.
CJ was well known throughout the neighborhood where he grew up and showed love to everyone from residents to local business owners.
CJ loved to look good. From his sneakers to his clothes, CJ had a way of bringing an outfit together. He would never be without a fresh pair of sneakers, a fitted hat or hoodie to match.
CJ enjoyed cooking and made sure to let his loved ones know when a meal didn’t quite look the way it should. CJ would explore different recipes all while dancing to his favorite songs and sharing his cooking skills live for us to laugh, learn and enjoy. CJ loved good food. Often, you could find him seated at a table for 1 with a spread of the most delicious dishes. He sure could eat!

CJ was employed as a cook at a local restaurant in NY. During that time CJ would often share his experiences in a commercial kitchen and how he was progressing until it was time to turn the page on that chapter of his life.

CJ later relocated to North Carolina where he established himself & began making a home.
CJ also loved sports and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers Football & Los Angeles Lakers Basketball Fan. CJ loved music and was a big Nipsey Hussle and J. Problem fan.

CJ loved to laugh and let loose around his family. CJ was a genuine person, a connector and a bridge between distant family members or friends.
CJ was a generous man who always reached out and touched many lives. From the East to the West coast, CJ was loved by many.

CJ is survived by his Mother Karen & her Husband Rodney Smith, his Father, Siblings; Jeffrey,Felton,Jasmine & Deidra, a loving bonus Brother Greg and bonus Sisters Suhaila & Cheiris McKnight, his beautiful sons Caleb, Aaron (Tanasia) & Carmelo, a loving leading lady, Cherry & bonus daughter Nevaeh, lifetime friends, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins near & far.
