Obituary for Diane Wilkerson

Diane Wilkerson was born February 25, 1954 in St. John’s Hospital, Long Island City, NY. She was the 8th child and 4th daughter of ten children, born to Elbert (L.B) Wilkerson, Sr. and Cheesie Vassar.
Diane relocated to Port Jervis, NY at the age of 2 years where she grew up along with her older siblings and later attended Port Jervis City School District. She attended Wickham Methodist Church along with her family and was baptized by the late Rev. Lewis Stewart. She was a Color Guard for the Blue Birds Drum and Bugle Corp of Port Jervis in her early teens and was employed as an assembly line worker with Kolmar Laboratories in Port Jervis, NY. She returned to New York City where she accepted a custodial position at an organization called PSYCH.
Diane was soft spoken, loving and a very caring person quietly settling into life. She touched lives of many and extended love to all those she met. She cherished her loved ones with tremendous love and devotion. She enjoyed many family gatherings, out in nature mostly, attending musical outdoor festivals, concerts and traveling long distances to visit with family and friends she knew and remained in touch with from childhood.
She leaves to cherish her memory … her longtime partner James Woodberry, Jackson Heights, NY; Her children, Tony M. Manley, New York, NY and Kymeshia Daniels, Newark, DE; Two grandsons, Quaadir H. Manley and Jackson Daniels; Four siblings, James E. Wilkerson, Laurelton, NY, Vivian Y. Stuart, Charlotte, NC,
Jo Ann Hassan and Dorene Myers, Jamaica, NY; Three sisters-in- law Barbara Wilkerson and Karen Wilkerson, Port Jervis, NY and Ruth Wilkerson, Laurelton, NY; One brother- in- law Hugh Myers, Jamaica, NY. A host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends; Her son Isaac Witsell, Jr. preceded her in death and also five of her siblings, Anthony John Wilkerson, Otis Wilkerson, Elbert Wilkerson, Jr., Hazel Evans and Walter Wilkerson (Abdul Wali Shabazz);
Diane will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.
We love you, but God loves you best.
