Obituary for Coolidge Calvin Ware

Coolidge Calvin Ware was born August 20, 1929 in Aiken, South Carolina to the late Deacon Wesley Ware and Nettie Cobb Ware. He was educated in the South Carolina School System, graduated from South Carolina Tech School. At an early age, Coolidge accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior, and joined the Jerusalem Branch Baptist Church in Salley, S.C. In 1951 he joined the United States Army and served in the Korean Conflict after which he received an honorable discharge.

Like many of his friends and family members, Coolidge migrated to New York in 1955 to make a better life for himself. He attended Central Barber School in NYC and received his license as a Master Barber.

August 17th , 1957 Coolidge married a childhood friend, the late Louise Rice, who, (as fate would have it) had also relocated to NY, they vowed to build a life together in Queens, NY. To their union, two fine boys were born, Daryl and Duane. Who could ask for anything more!

In 1958, Coolidge and Louise joined Bethany Baptist Church. During the early years of his membership Coolidge sang on the Young Adult Choir, since he was blessed with a wonderful tenor voice. He has served as Men's Day Chairman for several years and was voted to the Trustee Board where he served until he was appointed Chairman of the Board, and served his church in that capacity for the nine years totaling over 40 on the Trustee board. He was proud of his church and partnered with the Chairman of the Board of Deacons Lewis Mc Cain to keep the church going in the years Bethany was without a pastor.

Coolidge has accomplished many things in his 92 years of life. He retired from the NYC Transit Authority in 1985. Several years prior to that he went back to school and earned his G.E.D. He is a Mason and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star organization. He is dedicated to the manicuring of his yard and garden. His hedges reflect the work of a "master barber." Coolidge has served as the President of the Ware Family Reunion for many years keeping the family together both Northern & Southern Chapters. He enjoyed traveling and cooking like you would not believe. To this day his daughter in-laws and granddaughters have to fight to keep his baked Macaroni and Cheese recipe safe.

On February 26, 2022, Coolidge was promoted to Glory, where he can join his savior, wife Louise, parents and all of his brothers and sisters. He leaves to mourn two loving sons, Daryl and Duane (Winsome & Theresa), grandchildren Janay & Jazmine, one great grandson Jabari aka Boss Man! One sister-in-law Carolyn Ware Perkins, God children, Sean Ware, Andrea Caldwell and A’dham Johnson, a very special friend Evelyn Ferguson, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. His family has been the pride and joy of his life. "SURELY, GOD HAS BEEN GOOD"!!!
