Today we celebrate the life of Joel L . Herbert. Joel was born on June 12, 1039 in Brooklyn New York to the proud parents of Arthur and Josie Herbert. Joe as he was affectionately referred to was the youngest of 18 kids. Joel served in the United States Marine Corp as a young man.
Joel was a talented artist as well as an avid Guitar and Chess player. He practiced Martial Arts, his favorite being Jujitsu. Joe was a very wise man. He studied many religions and he knew much about the History of African Americans. Joe had a great sense of humor and was a great story teller. Throughout his life Joe held an array of jobs, always taking interest in performing task which would challenge his intellect.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and all 18 of his siblings, His daughter Ethel Nimmons and his son Anthony Rhodie. Joe leaves to cherish his legacy and memories his daughters Robin McNeill Blyden Herbert Sanford North Carolina, Antoinette Rhodie Charlotte, North Carolina, Ayo Rhodie-King of Jamaica, New York. His sons Rueben Rhodie of Harlem, New York, Mungu Rhodie Long Island, New York. His Grandchildren Kayla, Quiani, Niya, Mekhi, Ayo, Empress, Tiana, Lonnie, Anjavee, and Zelenah. Great Grandchildren Leilani, London, Sydney, Steven, Zaliyah, Alana and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
