Obituary

Leonie Calice Bigord, daughter and third child of the late Pierre Joseph Cherest Calice and Oximene Desruisseau Calice was born January 12, 1930 in Anse a-Veau Haiti. Although Leonie was faced with great illnesses, she remained strong. God called Leonie on July 231, 2014 to reside in his kingdom.
Leonie had a great sense of humor. She was well loved and her friends and family affectionately called her "NiNi". Leonie was a woman of good faith. As a Roman Catholic in her adulthood, she was involved in religious activities. In fact, Leonie met Janel S. Bigord at JOC, a religious prayer group. As their love for each other grew stronger, in December 1960, Janel and Leonie exchanged vows. They migrated to New York in search of a more fulfilling life for themselves and their children.

Leonie Bigord worked as a Seamstress. In addition, she made clothes, for herself and her children and also made curtains and accessories for her home. As a hobby, Leonie enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, word search and spending time with her grandchildren.

Leonie leaves on earth, her son Jean-Luc Bigord, her daughters Marie Gessy Bigord and Dorothy Bigord, her daughter-in- law Berclide Bigord and her three grand children Jude, Miryame and Talitha Bigord. Leonie is survived by her older brother Romane Calice and her younger sister Anne Marie Montimer and a host of nieces and nephews.
