I've know the family since Karen and I met in 10th grade and became fast friends. We often sleep over at each others homes even after I got pregnant with my first child, Stacy. The baby was due in September around the middle of te month and since it was only late August, we thought it ok for me to spend the night. Around midnight, I woke up soking wet and thought that my water had brooken. We woke up Mrs. Davis and told her what we thought.
"Are you having any pain, do you feel any contractions" she asked. "No" I replied. "Well go on backto sleep and stop playing games with me" she snapped. "Y'all just throwing water on yourself trying toget me going"
Needless tosay, my water had broken but I had no pain until abou 5 a.m. when we woke her to take us to the hospital. I don't know who was more surprised, me or her.
Mrs. Davis was like a mother to me and I will miss her greatly. Rest in Peace Mama Davis.
