Obituary for Dr. Faye L. Carson

Dr. Faye L. Carson
“And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the spirit, that they rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.” Rev. 14:13

Today we come together to celebrate the promotion of this wonderful woman of God, from Earth to Glory. Dr. Faye Louise Carson was born on September 6, 1941 in Russelville, Kentucky to Naomi and the late Leo Carson, Sr. She is the second child born to this union.

She attended Central High School in Louisville, Kentucky. Later on, she attended Morristown College and Tennessee Agricultural and Industrial State University. She also spent time training at University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) for the Peace Corps. As a volunteer, she provided technical assistance by helping people outside of the United States understand American culture and helping Americans understand the culture of other countries. Her philanthropic efforts led her to Ethiopia where she taught at Haile Selassie University.

Her academic career continued when Dr. Carson attended Columbia University Teachers College where she earned her Master of Arts Degree in Business Education. She holds two doctoral degrees from Trinity Theological Seminary, an honorary Doctorate of Divinity and an earned Ph.D.

On January 28, 2003, she retired from Hostos Community College of the City University System of New York. As a Professor in the Business Department, she developed curriculum and trained students for 29 years.

In 1967, Dr. Carson received Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. Throughout her life she has set an example of sacrifice, labor of love, holy living, as well as a commitment to God, His Word and her family.
No matter what the circumstances or situations, as a true believer of God, her testimony remained the same, “I am a Blessed Happy Woman.” She loved her church family and took pleasure of being in the company of the saints.

Dr. Carson has traveled extensively teaching the Word, conducting seminars, establishing schools and working with Pastors to train altar workers and counselors. Her vision is to see men, women, boys and girls from all walks of life hunger and thirst after righteousness, knowing that they shall be filled.

Dr. Faye L. Carson was the Dean of Schools of Tabernacle Bible Institute where she served for 32 years. During that time she has written courses and developed curriculum for Tabernacle Bible Institute/College headquarters and for all the branch institutes. She was responsible for designing a 20-workstation computer classroom and developing curriculum for Computer Science at the Bible Institute. She has also encouraged those outside the fellowship to invest their time and efforts into teaching the Word of God.

Serving as National Dean and Instructor, along with Evangelist Betty Warren and Sister Pearl Forman of the Tabernacle Bible Institute, she annually participated in the Children’s Foundation Class Thanksgiving Outreach Ministry at Highland Care Center. Dr. Carson always referenced scripture from 2 Timothy 2:15: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” She firmly believed, “The Bible stands,” therefore, if the Bible said it, she believed it.

In as much as the Lord has deemed it so to call one of His precious jewels home, we rejoice in knowing that we shall see her again if we keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus. Today our loss is great and our sorrow is deep, but more importantly, we recognize that this loss is Heaven’s gain.
