“Christianity does not exempt one from death
it only insures triumph over death.”

Harold L. Shackleford was born September 25, 1934 in Newnann, Georgia to the late Jack and Rocelious Shackleford, the eldest of eight children. He was educated in the Atlanta Public school system. He met and married his wife and life partner, Nora Hall Shackleford.

He relocated to New York, NY in 1960, where he worked until he moved to Jamaica, Queens in 1963. He established himself as an entrepreneur and a savvy business man starting at Buzz-A-Ride, then to York Car Service.

While dispatching and learning the business, he then went on to Red Cap Car Service , where he owned and operated eight cars. In 1976, he established Shack's Private Limousine Car Service at 109-15 Supthin Blvd later relocating in 1980 to 140-48 Queens Blvd where he worked until he retired in 1996. Shack was one of the first Black men to own a Private Limousine Car Service in the Queens area.

Known for his commercial.. "Hi Im Shack, need a ride?" He was given the distinguished honor of Businessman Of The Year.. for providing jobs and economic growth.

He was an avid golfer that played the game, up and down the “Chicken Circuit”. He always had a new car, and loved to dress sharp. Shack loved to travel, and he and Nora traveled the country. He loved to keep his yard nice, and manicured.. But most of all he loved his wife, and he loved his family.

He leaves to cherish his memory, wife Nora Shackleford, daughters, DeBorah Williams, Lynn Brown, son-in-law Darryl Brown, son Anthony Harold (Tony) Shackleford, sisters Hettie Warren, Doris Shackleford, Francis Howell, and a host of Grands, Great Grands, Great Great Grand children, friends and associates.
