Richardene F.  Gess
Richardene F. Gess daughter of the late Carlene Cauldwell and Stanley Gess, was born on August 28, 1940 in Harlem, N.Y.

Richardene known to some as Rich, Richie, & Dene departed this life on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Margaret Tietz Nursing Center in Queens, N.Y.

In 1960, Richardene met and fell in love with James Edwards and through this union they had three children James Gregory Edwards, Sharilyn Edwards & Latesha E. Edwards, six grandchildren Omar, Shakiera, Kiarah, Onique, Essence, & James G. Edwards II, ten great grandchildren a devoted niece Michelle Wynn and a special sister friend Cynthia Thomas who was always by her side.

Richardene graduated from Julia Richmond High School in 1958. Richardene and James moved from Harlem, N.Y. to Queens, N.Y. where she started working at North Shore University Hospital for thirty years and retired August 30th, 2003.

Richardene was a member of the New Jerusalem Worship Center where she was baptized on December 28, 2003 and a active member of the Psalmist Christian Life Development School. Richardene also was a key holder and on hall patrol for Building #16.

As a lover of life Richie enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, bowling, traveling, shopping, eating her “crabs” and spending quality time with her family and friends. Richie was a silent giant and matriarch who always provided support.

Richardene was preceded in death by her sister Carlene Delores Gess and brother Richard E. Gess.

Richardene will truly be missed but never forgotten. She is among all other mothers in heaven.
