The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Mabel Whitaker can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Sandra Tunstill

It was such a wonderful pleasure to get to know Ms. Whitaker. She was a strong and ethical leader. She chaired the pulpit committee that eventually selected my husband to become the pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church. She challenged the members, in that committee, to pray daily and dared any of them to divulge any of the proceedings. She loved laughter, friends and family. She was always so beautiful. I can see her, beautiful, always carefully manicured, finger nails in my mind to this very day. She was a woman who actually did it all. She oversaw church proceedings, led her family while at the same time remaining very feminine and beautiful. Needless to say she was the pillar of her community, her church and her family. She will be so missed. I am so thankful that I had the pleasure of getting to know her.
