A poem for my Grandpa
So here we are Grandpa saying good-bye, as I think of the memories weve shared I begin to cry.
I cry because your not here with us anymore, some say you lived a long life and theres no reason for our hearts to feel sore.
So I sat back and thought of all the things youve done and also thought of how my grandpa was a lot of fun.
You had your moments when you would curse someone out or even might just tell someone how you felt with a loud shout.
I know you had been through some things and they were really rough, but your good heart and wisdom outweighs that small stuff.
But those rough as well as good times shaped your 91 years of life, like when you met my grandma Emily and she became your wife.
Together you had 3 witty sons and a sassy daughter, in some pictures I saw you guys smiling as you enjoyed visiting the sandy beaches and water.
Another thing you accomplished was you served your country in WW II. It took a great toll on your life but as always you pushed through.
I remember you always had a story to share with my sister and me, it showed your soft side that you hid from others to see.
You made us laugh you made us feel happy. I cant ever recall a time when you were snappy.
You taught me how to work hard , how to study in school and be smart. I felt that sharing your wisdom was your way of sharing your heart.
So we celebrate your life, your accomplishments and success. God gave us you for 91 years and I can say we were truly blessed.
So we say thank you for your love, thank you for your lessons as we smile and stand tall because you did it well and said it best in your own words Bye Yall.
