Obituary for Larry James Johnson

Larry James Johnson
Larry James Johnson was born on August 12, 1952 to the late Philomena Love and James M. Johnson in Bronx, New York. He was the only child. The Lord called him home on Thursday, March 2nd, 2017.

Larry attended and graduated from the St. Clement Pope Catholic School in Jamaica, New York. After high school, Larry enlisted into the United States Marine Corps and served with distinction for four years and was honorably discharged in 1974. He returned to his home in Queens.

Larry’s passion was cars. He was the founder “Extreme Visions SUV Club of Queens”. This club was a Community Outreach Club, they provided “turkeys” at thanksgiving to anyone who was in need, gave food to the homeless and less fortunate, gave school supplies to the “back to school” drives, gave “toys” for toy drives at Christmas and assisted in whatever project they could to help the community. Traveling around the country with his buddies on his bike was another one of the joys of life that Larry looked forward to.

After returning from the Marine’s, Larry was employed at the Main Post Office on 33rd Street in New York City. Larry decided that this line of work was not for him so he opened his own Limousine Company called “Larry’s Limousine LTD” a luxury transportation service. He had the pleasure of driving many famous musicians and other individuals. From there he worked for Academy Bus Company, Long Island Bus Company and Jamaica Bus Company which later became a part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). He retired from the MTA in 2012.

He leaves to cherish his memory wife Aris, daughters Symanda, CheRae & LaRae Johnson, one son Larry J. Johnson Jr. He has 7 grandchildren. A host of Uncles, Aunts, Cousins, other family, friends and associates.

Gone but never forgotten.
