Lilly Veronica Orlebar, aged 69, died peacefully on July 28, 2018 at the Long Island Jewish Island Hospital, after a long struggle with diabetes and other ailments. Lilly was born June 22, 1949, in St. Mary, Jamaica West Indies, the daughter of Justin Green and Rose Hinds.
Lilly was a self taught seamstress and a fabulous cook. Her tenacious attitude allowed her to master all tasks of interest. She emigrated to the United States in the early 90's and quickly earned her certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked feverishly and saved to begin living the American dream. She purchased her own home within 4 years of arriving in the U.S., which provided a comfortable living environment and a great quality of life for her children. She even learned to drive and joined the impatient convoys of New Yorkers traveling the highways. It wasn't long before she was stricken with health challenges that stopped her progress and eliminated her from the workforce. He superior parenting allowed her children to pick up the baton and continue her long term care until the end.
Lilly is survived by her children; Donna Cover, Rosedale, NY; Lloyd (Tresha) Sterling, Chester, VA; Beverly (Milton) Wizzard, Henderson, NV; Dwayne Orlebar, Hollywood, FL; 4 fantastic grandchildren; 2 brothers, Clifton Green, Riversdale, Jamaica; and Edrick Green, London, England; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
