G. K. Chesterton wrote, "Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a strong desire to live taking the form of readiness to die." The men and women who served in the armed forces, whether during a time of war, or one of peace, are living examples of that contradiction. James Alexander Lewis was the son of Robert Lewis and Rosie Jane Williams-Telfair. He was born September 26,1938 in Birmingham, Alabama. His brother Robert Lewis preceded him in death.
